Psychological Analysis
The forces that shape society.
Everyone has principles until those principles become inconvenient. Everyone has desires. The interesting question is what happens when the two collide.
The values
Intellectual Rigour
All my publications are grounded in critical analysis, legal reasoning, and a willingness to confront complexity rather than settle for convenient conclusions. While the law is at the focus of my work, psychology heavily influences it.
01Psychological Curiosity
I explore the motives beneath human behaviour, from ambition and desire to manipulation and moral compromise, questioning what people want and what they are willing to do to obtain it.
02Principled Scepticism
I approach law, politics, and social conventions with an independent mind, examining the tensions between principle and self-interest, legality and justice, and public virtue and private ambition.
03Founder of the Civiel Review
“Law is rarely just about rules. It is about people: what they want, what they fear, what they justify, and what they are willing to do.”
- Callie M. Alaina Orford
Beyond What Is Said
People are rarely as simple as their public identities suggest. Ambition disguises itself as principle. Control presents itself as protection. Self-interest finds respectable language. Desire, meanwhile, has a remarkable capacity to persuade its owner that almost anything is justified.
I am interested in examining these contradictions, not to condemn human nature outright, but to understand it more closely.
What makes a person compromise their principles? When does ambition become obsession? How much of morality is conviction, and how much is convenience? What are people willing to risk, sacrifice, manipulate, or destroy in pursuit of something they believe they must have?
These are not merely psychological questions. They are legal, political, philosophical, and profoundly human ones.
